Who we are, What We Believe, Why we do what we do,
and Why we teach it the way we do...

We are...
THE CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST,  a Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in which the word of God is preached, ordinances are administered and the doctrine of sanctification or holiness is emphasized, as being essential to the salvation of mankind.

Our Church is commonly known as being Holiness or Pentecostal in nature because of the importance ascribed to the events which occurred on the Day of Pentecost, the 50th day after the Passover, or Easter as being necessary for all believers in Christ Jesus to experience.  Being Spirit filled or notably know as experiencing the baptism of the Holy Ghost is taught, expected and a requirement to have full authority to be an effective witness for Christ (Act 1:8).

What We Believe...
Our Affirmation of Faith
(Our Statement of Faith)

We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible written Word of God.

We believe that there is One God, eternally existent in three Persons;
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the Blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God,
which is in Christ at His return.

We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin, is through repentance, faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ and being baptized in water.

We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation.

We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing in prayer.

We believe that the baptism in the Holy Ghost, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who asks for it.

We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling, the Christian is enabled to live a Holy and separated life in this present world,

Why We Do What We Do...
Biblical Worship

We gather together for church services
"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:25, NIV

Psalm 100:4
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

We clap our hands
"O Clap your hands, all ye people, shout unto God with the voice of triumph." Psalm 47:1, KJV

We lift our hands
"Thus will I bless thee while I live; I will lift up my hands in thy name." Psalm 63:4, KJV
"Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord." Psalm 134:2, KJV

We stand and praise the Lord
"Then the Levite's...said, Stand up and bless the Lord your God for ever and ever; and blessed be thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise." Nehemiah 9:5, KJV

Why we Pray, "That the Lord might hear us"
2 Chronicles 6:26
When the heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; yet if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou dost afflict them;

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Matthew 6:6
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

We say "Amen"
"And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground." Nehemiah 8:6, KJV

"Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, amen. Praise ye the Lord." Psalm 106:48, KJV

We sing choruses as well as hymns
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." Colossians 3:16, KJV

We have preaching and teaching
"It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” Ephesians 4:11-12, NIV

"How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” Romans 10:14, KJV

We use musical instruments
"Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet, praise Him with the sound of the harp. Praise him with the tumbrel and dance, praise Him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise Him upon the loud cymbals, praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals." Psalm 150:3-5, KJV

We come before the altar
"Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Hebrews 4:16, NIV

We anoint with oil and pray for the sick
"Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick and the Lord shall raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him." James 5:14-15, KJV

We seek to serve others, before ourselves

Why are services necessary

Why Sunday School?
(10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning)
Christian Education is offered to expand and allow the Christian disciple to enter into a classroom setting, leading the pupil through experiences of truth into a life of service and  glory of God. The purpose of Sunday School is... To reach out to those who don't know Christ personally.

To teach from the Bible the good news of God's love and acceptance of them. To win them by leading them into a personal relationship with Christ. To help them mature in their relationship through in-depth teaching, discussion, and experiencing the Word of God. To train them to find and use their talents and gifts to reach others and build up other believers. "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.

New Member Training and Development also takes place on Sunday Mornings as well as Sunday School classes are broken down into other small group studies according to age groups.

" 2 Peter 1:3 NIV. If we have everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Christ, then it is imperative that we gain that knowledge. Sunday School is designed for that purpose, a systematic study of the Word of God.

Why Morning Worship?
(11:00 a.m. - 1:30 a.m. Sunday Morning)
God made us to worship and glorify Him. Sunday Morning Worship is the time set aside to worship through singing, praising, giving, hearing the Word, and exercising the gifts of the Spirit, as well as the time and place of meeting with a loving God. (Psalm 84)".

Hebrews 10:25 NIV, "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching."   It is a time of learning, of fellowship, of giving, and a time to have the Word of God revealed under the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit. It is a time for experiencing varied types and expressions of worship. We believe the church is the place God ordained,  where you can receive help for all your needs.

Why Sunday Evening Worship?
(4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Sunday morning)
Our Sunday Evening Service is scheduled to host a variety of annual events, as well as opportunities to fellowship with other ministries.  It is also a time of fellowship with God and as we seek fellowship with others, as well as a time to receive a refreshing touch from the Holy Spirit.

Members and guest receive an evangelistic message, with a focus on spiritual development..

Why Wednesday Bible Study and Youth Church Night?
Wednesday Night is designed to provide spiritual enrichment in the middle of the week, through bible study, with the focus on studying to show thyself approved before God.

The Adult electives offer a variety of teaching subjects. A general Bible study is offered in additional to a class. Teens in Training is geared towards the teens that attend our church - providing them with a time for drama practice, Bible Quiz, ministering to other teens through follow-up, newsletter team, etc.

We encourage Family Night for our children through programs designed to allow youth to participate unlike Sunday School, they not only learn more about God and His plan for their life, but have fun activities and social interaction.

Why Teach it this way?

Teaching or training is essential to not only biblical development, but personal growth.
We believe what we do now will lead the way to a Christ centered life in the future.

2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

THE BIBLE
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and contains one harmonious and sufficiently complete system of doctrine. We believe in the full inspiration of the Word of God. We hold the Word of God to be the only authority in all matters and assert that no doctrine can be true or essential, if it does not find a place in this Word.

SALVATION
Salvation deals with the application of the work of redemption to the sinner with his restoration to divine favor and communion with God. This redemptive operation of the Holy Ghost upon sinners is brought about by repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ which brings conversion, faith, justification regeneration, sanctification, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Repentance is the work of God, which results in a change of mind in respect to man's relationship to God. (St. Matthew 3:1-2, 4:17; Acts 20:21). Faith is a certain conviction wrought in the heart by the Holy Spirit, as to the truth of the Gospel and a heart trust in the promises of God in Christ (Romans 1:17, 3:28; St. Matthew 9:22; Acts 26:18).

Conversion is that act of God whereby He causes the regenerated sinner, in his conscious life, to turn to Him in repentance and faith (II Kings 5:15; II Chronicles 33:12-13; St. Luke 19:8, 9; Acts 8:30). Regeneration is that act of God by which the principle of the new life is implanted in man, and the governing disposition of soul is made holy and the first holy exercise of this new disposition is secured. Sanctification is that gracious and continuous operation of the Holy Ghost, by which He delivers the justified sinner from the pollution of sin, renews his whole nature in the image of God and enables him to perform good works (Romans 6:4;5:6; Colossians 2:12; 3:1).

THE HOLY GHOST
We believe the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, proceeds from the Father and the Son, is of the same substance, equal to power and glory, and is together with the Father and the Son, to be believed in, obeyed, and worshipped. The Holy Ghost is a gift bestowed upon the believer for the purpose of equipping and empowering the believer, making him a more effective witness for service in the world. He teaches and guides one into all truth (John 16:13; Acts 1:8, 8:39).

THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY GHOST
We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Ghost is an experience subsequent to conversion and sanctification and that tongue-speaking is the consequence of the baptism in the Holy Ghost with the manifestations of the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23; Acts 10:46, 19:1-6). We believe that we are not baptized with the Holy Ghost in order to be saved (Acts 19:1-6; John 3:5). When one receives a baptismal Holy Ghost experience, we believe one will speak with a tongue unknown to oneself according to the sovereign will of Christ. To be filled with the Spirit means to be Spirit controlled as expressed by Paul in Ephesians 5:18-19. Since the charismatic demonstrations were necessary to help the early church to be successful in implementing the command of Christ, we therefore, believe that a Holy Ghost experience is mandatory for all men today.
